Facebook Instant Personalization

Last week, Facebook launched a series of social plugins that third party sites such as CNN and Pandora can install to instantly personalize users’ experiences on their sites. Facebook Like

Last week, Facebook updated its platform to include more “like” features to enhance the flow of social information, and make users’ experiences online more personal and social. Developing a Social Media Engagement Strategy

Facebook Fans

Many companies are replacing traditional methods of direct marketing with social media. The companies with successful social media campaigns thus far have focused on designing the channels, monitoring the conversation, developing content, and measuring ROI. However, engagement with the audience is one of the most overlooked components of a social media strategy.

One key benefit of social media is the two-way conversation brands can have with their audiences. They mistake their “content strategy” as an “engagement strategy.” But developing content without an engagement strategy is like talking to your audience and completely ignoring what they say back to you.

How to Add the Facebook Like Button to Your Blog

Facebook Like Thumbs Up

You might have noticed that Facebook has gone a bit “like” crazy this week. One major change affected fan pages: instead of becoming a fan of a page like Coca-Cola, you now “like” the brand. Facebook also introduced a “Like” button that could be added to any page on the internet. This little like button is the easiest way to share content yet. With just one click, a user can share your content with all of his or her Facebook friends. Read More…

Google Buzz

When Google Buzz launched a few months ago, Google did not immediately follow up with a Tweetmeme-style Buzz share button. So developers created workaround code and plugins to create a Google Buzz button and share counter. The first of these appeared on the social media blog Mashable. The share counter on these buttons was inaccurate, because it counted the amount of clicks on a shared item via the Bit.ly API rather than how many times the page had been Buzzed, or shared.

Google has finally released an official Google Buzz share button, which displays a counter of how many times a page has been shared on Buzz. Here’s how to install it.

Facebook Logo

If you’re a marketer who’s been asked to create a presence on Facebook for your client or company, you might have struggled with the decision of whether to create a Facebook page or a Facebook group. At first glance, the two seem quite similar, but once you dig deeper the functionality is very different.

12 Reasons Why the iPad is Useless

Apple iPad

I’m typically a fan of Apple, having been a loyal consumer of their iPod for six years, impressed by their Mac Books, and amazed by their marketing skills. But then they came out with this iPad thing. People won’t stop talking about it. It’s all over Twitter. And to be honest, Mashable has flooded their social media blog with iPad posts (talk about off topic).

Frankly, I don’t get it. Sure, it’s pretty. And yeah, it’s a kinda cool device. Kinda. But does it really deserve the hype it’s been getting? If you’re one of those people who thinks retweeting something about the iPad will make you look cool, here are the reasons why, in my opinion, the iPad is useless.
