If you’re trying to grow your blog readership organically, you need to get creative about how you spread the word online. One easy way to spread the word is via messages you’re already sending — your emails!
If you’re promoting your personal blog, add a link to your Facebook page in your personal email signature. If it’s your company’s blog, add the URL to your company email signature as well. Better yet, create a signature template that includes this link and encourage your coworkers or co-bloggers to use this signature as well.
But why stop with just the URL? If you use Gmail for your email, you can use WiseStamp to dynamically include a link to your most recent blog post in your email signature. If your blog post titles are attention-grabbing, you could get traffic from anyone you send an email to. WiseStamp is a browser plugin that works with Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari that lets you easily create fancy email signatures.
Once you have WiseStamp installed, click the WiseStamp symbol at the top of the screen.
Edit your signature however you’d like — you can include a link to your blog in your standard signature. Then in the Email Apps section, click RSS > Add App.
Customize your RSS title (e.g. “Latest post” or “Read the latest”), and enter your blog’s RSS URL. Then click Apply to save your changes.
The next time you create an email, your new signature should automatically appear, and it will include a link to your most recent blog post. If the signature doesn’t appear, click on the WiseStamp symbol in the WYSIWYG editor.
If you’d like to share your email signature as a template for your coworkers or cobloggers, copy the HTML of your email signature and email it to them, along with these instructions. The more emails your colleagues send, the more people will see your latest Facebook page post!
